THIS SKINCARE BRAND’S INGREDIENTS ARE SO GOOD YOU CAN EAT THEM!

Do you want skin-care products that are so natural and healthy you could eat them? We wanted to know the secrets to non-toxic skincare products that support radiant skin, a healthy body and a happy self, so we sat down with Bethany McDaniel, founder, of Primally Pure to get the scoop! Bethany is the heartbeat and hard work behind the brand Primally Pure. Over time, she realized her passion for real and recognizable ingredients – not just on her plate, but in her skincare products too! This led to her vision to promote health and vitality as a lifestyle for herself and others.

Bethany, thank you for taking the time to chat with us about your amazing brand. Tell us about Primally Pure and how you got started?

When my family spontaneously started a farm, it got me started on a path of cleaning up my lifestyle and skincare was a huge part of that. I had dealt with acne, rosacea and a few other pesky skin problems for years, over time I began experimenting with natural alternatives to the toxic products I had always used. Within only a few short weeks, I observed a noticeable difference in the health and appearance of my skin. The further I strayed from conventional products over the next several months the better my skin looked and felt. I was sold on natural skincare and wanted the rest of the world to experience the same benefits that I did!

A family farm? That sounds amazing, back to nature! We live in such a toxic world, so I can imagine, cleaning up your lifestyle would make a huge difference. As you started to clean up your lifestyle, what product or products made the biggest difference with your skin.

That’s so hard! If I had to pick one product, it would probably be our Cleansing Oil. I use this product because I believe in the scientific principle of “like dissolves like” therefore, oil cleansing utilizes beneficial oils that penetrate deep into pores, to dissolve grime and build-up. It’s the best way to purify and nourish the skin while still keeping its natural moisture barrier in-tact. This new method was a stark contrast to the harsh cleansers I had grown up using, thinking that stripping my skin of all oil was a good thing (when it actually dried out my skin, causing it to overproduce oil and making my acne even worse). When I started oil cleansing, I went through a detox phase that lasted a few weeks, this resulted in my skin being more healthy and balanced than it had been in years.

I’m definitely going to give Cleansing Oil a try! Speaking of great skin, what are 3 healthy skin hacks you recommend?

My number one skin hack is basic, yet so powerful, it’s called sleep! Sleep is one superpower miracle drug that we definitely want more of. The skin produces collagen while we sleep which means fewer wrinkles and more youthful glowing skin. Second, it’s so important to avoid inflammatory foods (gluten, refined sugar, and anything processed). And lastly, I believe that using products made from nature and avoiding toxic chemicals really makes a difference in contributing to the long-term health of the skin.

I agree sleep is a must for that youthful look and restful bliss! What about food, what’s your favorite superfood for glowing skin?

Collagen Peptides are my favorite skin superfood! Within only a week or two of regular use, most people start noticing that their skin has more of a healthy glow. Collagen helps with hydration, moisture, and elasticity in the skin.

Collagen peptides are really hitting the mark as a superfood for healthy glowing skin, so this is not surprising. Tell us about your self-care routine…

No matter how busy you are, there are always opportunities to practice mindfulness and self-care throughout the day. I’ve found that even the most simple practices, which don’t require a ton of energy or space, go a long way in providing much-needed refreshment! I try to take Epsom salts baths most nights, go on walks, and take time to enjoy a morning beverage, etc. However, the most true form of self-care isn’t as much about those little indulgences (although they are SO needed at times) as it is about saying “no” to the things that don’t support long-term health and happiness but saying “yes” to the things that do. For instance, giving up processed foods may not feel like self-care at the moment, but having enough respect for yourself, to commit to a lifestyle change that will be beneficial long-term is the truest form of self-care there is.

Great advice! What about the busy women who travel, what skincare products do you recommend?

If I had to choose only 3 of our products to travel with, it would be our deodorant, dry shampoo, and everything spray! Our Everything Spray can be used for so many things (facial toner, wound healer, armpit refresher – just to name a few) that’s a must for all of the “unknowns” that come with travel.

Awesome! I like the idea of the Everything Spray even if you don’t travel! What about pregnant women? What healthy advice do you recommend for women who want to look their best during this amazing season?

I’ve been there, how impossible it seems at times, to feel and look your best during pregnancy. During this time, it’s crucial to remember the “why” behind it all. You are growing a human life and nurturing that life is one of the most important things you will ever do! My best piece of advice here is to have grace with yourself. Know that you will put on some extra pounds, your skin may act out in different ways, at different stages in pregnancy, and you may feel tired and sluggish at times. But you ARE beautiful! Your body is in the process of doing something miraculous – it’s so important to stay positive (as much as possible) and avoid any negative self-talk, throughout the ups and downs of pregnancy.
